The album was released on November 9, 1993 in the United States & Canada. In Japan, the album was released on December 2, 1993.
In the United Kingdom, the album was released on February 21, 1994. In Australia, it was released on March 7, 1994.
In France, the album was released on June 10, 1994.

Celine worked with people such as David Foster, Walter Afanasieff & Diane Warren (who worked with her on the albums "Unison" and "Celine Dion."
The album was noteworthy in the dedication section because it was the first public acknowledgement that Celine had fallen in love with her manager Rene Angelil.
In the dedication on the album, Celine named Rene as "the colour of [her] love."

"The Colour of My Love" has shipped six million copies and was certified 6x platinum (selling 4,558,000 copies according to the Nielsen SoundScan).
After selling four million copies in Europe, it was certified 4x platinum by the IFPI.
It was awarded with multi-platinum certifications in many European countries, including the United Kingdom where it has sold 1,816,915 and achieved 5x platinum status (and is eligible for 6x platinum after selling over 1,800,000 copies).
Celine garnered tremendous success with the album, particularly in the United Kingdom where it stood for five weeks at the top of the British albums chart while "Think Twice" reigned simultaneously atop the British singles chart.
This accomplishment was last achieved by The Beatles.
Both the album and the single spent seven weeks in total at the top of the UK charts.
In Canada, the album has sold 1.4 million copies and was certified diamond.
In Japan, it has topped the one million units sales point and was certified with a million award.
The album was also successful in Australia and New Zealand, where it was certified 8x platinum and 6x platinum respectively.
It became the second best-selling album of 1995 in Australia and spent the longest run at number one for that year.

Critical Reception[]
Allmusic wrote that "The Colour of My Love" is "successful, thanks to the careful production, professional songwriting (highlighted by "When I Fall in Love," "The Power of Love" and "Think Twice") and Dion's powerhouse performances."
The Chicago Tribune (which awarded the album 2 out of 4 stars) noted Celine's talent comes from "sickly sweet, by-the-books standards, forcefully resonant and multiflavored vocals. With her attempt at soul, you can categorize Dion as fairly shallow, sort of a female Michael Bolton."
